Quick Poll

I'm just curious, so I'll put out a couple questions. Anyone feel free to comment and help enlighten me:

1. Who wants to get the H1N1 vaccine this year? Who most decidedly doesn't?

2. Does anyone else get really fatigued from answering toddler questions? Nonstop? All day long? Every day of the week? Examples: What's that called, what's that do, why does that do that, why, how does it do that, and then repeat the questions, often for the same object. I swear my answers are not even heard!

3. Cloth Diapers. Who does it, who doesn't, why?

4. Best remedies for back pain during pregnancy.

5. Breakfast ideas. Warm foods excluding oatmeal and cream of wheat. No cold cereal responses allowed ($$$, and it's cold), please. :)

6. Who has read Gabriel Garcia Marquez and LOVES his writing? Me!!

Okay, just thought I'd ask. Have a lovely Thursday.

H1N1: I can't seem to find it anywhere, but at this point I am content to stop looking. I did venture away from my norm this year and get seasonal shots for me and The Kid, however. I'm not scared of the flu, but I am worried about heightened prevalence and chance for multiple exposures this winter (especially with a little one who's mouth is on everything). Getting the flu once is one thing - catching it two, three, or more times is more than I want to allow.

Warm breakfast: Scrambled eggs are a common Easy Button at our home. A close second is peanut butter toast (with fruit). Does that help?

Hmm, I haven't made bran muffins in a while, thanks Carrie! And peanut butter toast has never even occurred to me. Thanks Mandi! As far as I'm aware the H1N1 is not available yet to general population here. Todd just got his yesterday as a 1st responder.

H1N1- not going to get it or let the kids get it. I don't like the vaccines anyway. I did get normal flu shots for the boys because I work in healthcare and can bring something home easily.
We haven't gotten to toddler questions yet, but I think sometimes I will just answer back with a question and let them ponder it. (i dont know if this will work because I am not there yet)
Cloth diapers- we don't do it. I get diapers way too cheaply to waste time on cloth diapers. Brad and I also watched a video on which one is better for our environment and they came out equally so one is not better than the other in that respect. I just got 2 packs of diapers at CVS (pampers brand for $0.30 each pack)
Back pain- a small wedge pillow (not the gigantic one like Danielle had) and a feather pillow.. I had a lot of back pain.. I would place the feather one under my stomach (I could adjust the thickness) and then put the wedge behind my back and I could slightly roll onto my back onto the wedge and it just gave a lot of support.
Breakfast- breakfast casseroles can be made ahead and cooked and then put in the freezer in individual portion sizes. Also breakfast quiche is good and you can do the same thing with it.
Thats all I've got. Hope everything is going well for you guys!

I feel your pain...both with the toddler questions and the pregnancy back issues!!

I am at a loss with the questions over and over again. Let me know if you find a solution. For now I just sound like a broken record. :)

I had horrible back pain with both pregnancies (I have back issues anyway). The BEST thing I did was to take a prenatal water aerobics class at the Briargate Y. As a former competitive swimmer and swim instructor I always made fun of water aerobics. But it made a HUGE difference in my pain levels. I would go in to the class with pain and leave feeling great. Let me know if you want more info. You can just pay for the class w/out being a member.

I give the girls waffles with peanut butter a lot, but I'm always searching for new breakfast ideas, too. :)

my kids love cold cereal. :) LOVE it.
how about a bagel with cream cheese? Those are a hit around here, too.

This is great fun for me! I'm loving getting everyone's ideas. Lauren, send me some of your breakfast casserole recipes, please! Boone, I don't ever think of bagels, good idea! Carrie K, thanks for the recommendation for water aerobics. I may try yoga first, but I'll let you know if I need more info! Thanks!!

I forgot to mention that yoga and pilates helped a lot, too. :)

Can I play along? I love this!

1. I'm getting it since I'm pregnant. The trick is finding someone who has it. i think I get to wait in line at the Health Dept. on Wednesday....

2. where is our house? what's that doing? what's her name? how old are you? where's my doggy? was that a lion? are we going too fast? what's that? can I eat it? like Kate said the other day: "mom, i don't think I have enough answers for all of Nancy's questions. she talks too much."

3. i figure i do my part by recycling, conserving water, and composting. the space my newspapers and glass bottles would have taken up in the landfill are just replaced by our diapers.

4. i sleep on the couch in the last weeks. that's the only thing that helped me.

5. i have a great bran muffin recipe. the batter keeps in the fridge covered for up to 2 weeks, so you can just pull it out and bake and always have hot muffins from the oven. and i add yummies, like raisins or carrots or apples. and we have yogurt with the muffins. or we'll have eggs and toast. ps. your bread recipe is amazing!!

6. who?

Hey friend with my sons twin :) The only one I can really offer a suggestion for is the constant questions... I would always try to answer the question the first time and then, when it was inevitably asked again, I turn it back on them: "Do you remember that you just asked me that question? And what was my answer?" Then they have to think. I remember telling them that I don't mind answering questions if they listen to the answer, but I'm not just going to keep on saying the same thing over and over again. Another, far quicker approach is "Well, what do YOU think that man is doing?" (Asking them the same question without you actually answering it). I found that most of the time they just used questions as a way to chatter, not really listening or learning life lessons. If you turn it back on them, then you can see if they really are trying to learn/figure something out or mindlessly talk and expect you to dialogue. Hope that helps!
